Laboratory & Sample Analysis
VMCS-AS provides professional sampling, sealing and sample logistics as part of our cargo, bunker and MARPOL Annex II survey services. For laboratory analysis, we cooperate with Petrotest AS (petrotest.no), an independent Norwegian laboratory specialising in analysis of petroleum products.
Analyses we can arrange
Representative samples taken by our surveyors are analysed by the laboratory in accordance with applicable standards. Quality certificates can be issued against the required specification.
Fuel quality analysis
Petrol, diesel, marine fuels and heating oil — quality control that safeguards engine reliability, including fuels with increasing bio-content.
Product qualification
Testing of product quality against the required specifications, with quality certificates issued in accordance with applicable standards.
Compatibility & corrosivity testing
Determination of corrosivity and interactions between equipment, chemicals and fuels — onshore and offshore.
Bitumen & asphalt analysis
A broad spectrum of physical property analyses of bitumen under varying conditions, including type testing.
Mobile laboratory — results during your operation
Through Petrotest's mobile analysis laboratory, sampling and analysis can be carried out directly in the field during loading and discharge operations. This is especially valuable when samples degrade quickly and must be analysed immediately to remain representative — giving you results while the operation is still in progress, not days later.
How the sampling process works
Result quality starts with sample quality. VMCS-AS controls every step from drawing the sample to delivering it at the laboratory bench.
On-site sampling
Representative samples drawn by our surveyor on board or at the terminal.
Sealing & custody
Samples sealed, labelled and documented under full chain-of-custody control.
Transport
Secure sample logistics from site to laboratory, arranged by VMCS-AS.
Laboratory analysis
Analysed by Petrotest AS in accordance with applicable standards.
Reporting
Results reported together with our survey documentation where required.
Petrotest AS — independent oil-product laboratory
Petrotest is a free-standing, independent contract laboratory with long experience in the analysis of petroleum products. The laboratory's independence strengthens the integrity of every result we deliver.
Laboratory analyses are performed by Petrotest AS as an independent third party. VMCS-AS acts as sampling and survey provider.
